This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ondemand-1If you are like me, you are very busy with your work and family responsibilities. It’s hard to catch your favorite shows when they are on. Of course you can record them, but that requires some forethought and guess what? I sometimes have so many things on my mind that remembering to record something is the farthest thing from my mind.

For example, my favorite show is USA’s Burn Notice. I just love it, but I can’t always watch it on Thursdays at 9pm when it’s on. Things always seem to come up and then I’m scrambling to find a repeat. I found a solution to this one: Charter On Demand. You can check out the On Demand home page and see everything they have available, including Burn Notice.

The On Demand home page is set up to be easy to use to check and see what is available. You do need to enter your zip code for your specific Charter cable system, but then you can find all of the listings. It’s pretty cool actually. They’ve also got a Facebook page to get the latest news and info about On Demand. You will ‘Like’ their Facebook page as well so check it out.

All in all, I’d love to be able to get Charter On Demand to be able to see all the great free and paid videos. It sure would make it easier for me to watch Burn Notice when I want to.

What About Online Education?

I was looking at a couple of different opportunities out there to better myself with online learning opportunities. I was wondering any of you all have ever taken a course online and how did it work out for you?

I would love to see some reviews of different online courses and training programs. I know a lot of people are benefiting from them lately, but I’d love to hear about specific programs.

Also I’d like to know what kind of technology was used to deliver the courses and if it was useful or not.

If I can get enough feedback here, I will write a post about what has been discussed.

My Quest For Better Living

I have started another blog to deal with my personal quest to lose pounds and inches and improve my overall health. It’s called Better Living Quest and it talks about the things I am doing to improve my personal health.

As some of you may know, I have Type II Diabetes and I am overweight. My health is not very good and I found myself in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. I knew that I needed to make some serious changes in my life to improve my health. I immediately eliminated Coca Cola and several other sources of calories and started eating right. I also started doing a lot of walking and hiking.

It’s just starting but I really hope that it can serve as a way to encourage other people to lose weight and get their health back in shape. If you want to check out the site, then go ahead and click on Better Living Quest.

Mid Summer Report

The BeachSummer is about half over now and I have been doing a lot of reflection on the quality time that my family has been able to spend together so far this summer and the things we have been able to do. This is the first real vacation time that my family has had and we have done a lot so far but there is much more to do.

Sure we have spent some time at the beach and we have visited PIC and World Resort this summer, but we haven’t gotten much hiking done. I want to do some hiking in the mountains this summer. I’d also like to hike the trail to Forbidden Island with my oldest son.

The benefits of getting out in the mountains and doing some real hiking is that I can get to feel better about myself. My health isn’t as good as I’d like it to be, but I know I can improve it with some good exercise.

Work Now = Future Value

I have been doing a lot of work recently preparing a set system for doing energy audit consulting. It takes up a lot of my time in the present, but it should save me a significant amount of time and money in the future. This is a key business concept.

The concept is that you shouldn’t be afraid to do work now if it will save you a significant amount of work in the future. The work you are doing to lay down a framework or foundation is valuable and you will see that value in the future. While it is hard to see it now, rewards are coming.

So many people forget about this in business, but it’s important. All the work you are doing for your business creates value. Recognize that value and be prepared to take advantage of it and leverage it.

My Work With Energy Audits

I am doing a lot of brainstorming about ideas to help companies achieve more through technology in my consulting business. One of the ideas that really seems to be popular with small businesses is my energy auditing.

Basically energy auditing is about looking at a small businesses utility bills and identifying ways that they can reduce their utility bills. I can take a look at their entire business, including the physical part of the property but also their business processes in an effort to identify ways that they can reduce their utility bills by a significant amount.

Not only do companies save money on their utility bills, it’s also a way to help the environment. I’m working on coming up with a way to certify companies as energy efficient and environmentally friendly. That gives companies these energy audits an even bigger incentive to have an energy audit.

Can Technology Turn Things Around?

Can technology turn things around? This is a question I am asking myself a lot lately. I see that a lot of the typical web stuff are just time killers and I see that they have no chance of helping the economy in either the short or long term. That said there are other emerging technologies that can turn things around.

I see that we could revolutionize a lot of the ways we are doing things by making things more local. That means more home power generation, more sane energy production methods, and more efficient food production. New emerging technologies can make this possible.

This is a new area that I am going into and hope that I can make a positive change. We are on the cusp of a big change and we can make it happen.

Getting Edgy?

I am thinking of being just a little more edgy on this blog in the near future. I don’t know if this is a change, but I do want to get somethings out there that are bothering me. Things just don’t look as good as they did even a couple of years ago. I think we are sliding ever further down a slippery slope that none of us really want to go through.

What do you all think? Should I do more standing up or should I just chill out?
